Indigenous Research Ethics Workshop

The Indigenous Research Ethics Workshop is funded through York University’s Provost’s Indigenizing the Academy Initiative and will be held on the Keele campus of York University (5th floor, Kaneff Tower) from 8:30am-5:30pm on Friday, March 16, 2018. We anticipate that this Research Ethics Workshop will bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars, faculty, undergraduate, and graduate students to engage in meaningful conversations about the responsibilities of conducting ethical research in and with Indigenous communities, including forms this research might take within the context of a changing sociopolitical landscape. We take as a fundamental premise that the incorporation of indigenous knowledges and values at each and every stage of the research process has greatly transformed the ways in which ethical research has been re-defined, re-articulated, regulated, and operationalized within academia. Our aim is to create a safe space where diverse stakeholders can come together to think about and engage with thought-provoking ethical issues in diverse areas of Indigenous research.
